On Thursday February 4th 2010 my grandfather was reunited with his beautiful wife. We were able to all be with him when he passed. My sister Britten and her family were still here from PA and my dad was home for a couple of days.
It was actually a very touching and spiritual night. We received a call from the home that he was not doing so well so we all met up there around 8pm. We found him sleeping but having hard time breathing. My dad was able to give him a wonderful blessing that he would be comfortable and in no pain. We then sang him hymns (Of course we had to sing Poor Wayfaring man of Grief since it was my grandmothers favorite) All of us were there talking and remembering the past and the wonderful things about my grandfather.
Funny story: This story is an example of how fun hearted and a joker that my grandfather is
So on Wed the nurse was in taking my grandpa’s vitals and listing to his heart and the whole time he laid there sleeping and not moving too much. When the nurse was all done she quietly said “Ok Herold I am all done and will be back later” He continued to lay there acting like he was sleeping so the nurse whispered “we will see you soon” and was about to turn to leave when my grandpa jumped up and screamed, the poor nurse jumped 10 feet and my grandpa just laughed then the nurse smiled and said “you got me.”
So when it came time for my grandfather to go home we were all sitting around holding his hand, and he had a tear come out of his eye and he simply quite breathing. It was very fast and peaceful. I truly believe that my grandmother came to get him and the tear was a tear of joy. He has been waiting 4 long years to be with her. Grandpa we will miss you but are happy that you are finally with grandma. We love you both!

We love ya and we are here for you. Isn't the Gospel great how we can know that we can be with our family forever.?! What a happy reunion for your grandpa!
I'm sorry but I'm glad that it was quick and peaceful.
I'm sorry to hear about your grandfather's passing. But how lucky he was to be surrounded by his loving family as he left this life for the next.
